Olympic swimming champion Michael Phelps has admitted to using pot, after photos were leaked to a paper that showed partaking in what he called "regrettable" behaviour and "bad judgement". The photo was published first in the News of the World.

In a statement to the AP, Phelps said: "I engaged in behavior which was regrettable and demonstrated bad judgment. I'm 23 years old and despite the successes I've had in the pool, I acted in a youthful and inappropriate way..."

He added that, "For this, I am sorry. I promise my fans and the public it will not happen again." Phelps won 8 gold medals last year at the Olympic games, smashing various records.

Serena Williams Denies Andy Roddick a Rematch

Serena Williams has denied Andy Roddick's calls for a rematch after she revealed during the Australian Open that she beat him in a one-set match when they trained together as children. The two have sparred verbally since the revelation.

Roddick confirmed the match, saying: "When we were ten, I had to literally run around in the shower to get wet. She was bench pressing dump trucks already at that time."

Williams parried, saying: "Andy's always exaggerating. I was so small for my age. He was small too. He just got jealous because my body was more fit and that my biceps are probably still bigger than his."

The Monroe County Ohio School System has declared that cheerleader's uniforms violate the school's dress code and will not be allowed in class, but they will be allowed at games and in assemblies.

"The skirts that the cheerleaders wear are very short, and they're very tight and they're slit so they can do the gymnastics that are required of a cheerleader," Superintendent Elizabeth Lolli said, adding that they can wear something underneath.

Parents are upset, saying that because they pay for the uniforms, then the girls should be allowed to wear them. "They conduct themselves like ladies, they are representatives of the school, they all handle themselves very well," one parent said.

Ara Abrahamian, who protested his bronze award in wrestling by discarding it during the presentation ceremony, has been disqualified from the rest of the Games and stripped of his medal. The Swede said he's the victim of "blatant errors in judging."

Abrahamian, who feels he deserved the gold medal, shouted at the referee and confronted the judges after his loss to eventual gold winner Andrea Minguzzi, representing Italy. During the ceremony, he took off his medal and left it on the mat.

"Any disruption by any athlete, in particular a medalist, is in itself an insult to the other athletes and to the Olympic Movement," the IOC said. "It is also contrary to the spirit of fair play."

As a precursor to Monday's Euro 2008 games in Austria, Austria and Germany fielded 2 womens soccer teams on Sunday. But at the end of the game, they had to forego the traditional shirt swap. The reason? Both teams were clad only in thongs.

Organized by an online chat room, the two teams took the field with a mostly male audience, and plenty of media who were all too happy to take a break from covering Euro 2008.

"I hope our men will take heart from that tomorrow. We played pretty hard, we even had some injuries, like I for example broke my toe nail," Said Doris Fastenmeir, a bank employee, and one of the competitors.

Sarah Tucholsky, a 5'2", .153 lifetime hitter for Western Oregon, hit her first-ever home run to move her team closer to its first appearance in the NCAA playoffs. But rounding first, she tore a ligament in her knee, leaving her unable to walk.

The umpires ruled she would be credited with a single. Then, opposing first baseman Mallory Holtman, the conference all-time home run leader, asked the umpires if she could help Tucholsky complete her home run. The umpires consented.

Holtman and teammate Liz Wallace picked up Tucholsky and carried her to each base, giggling as they wondered what the fans must be thinking. As they lowered Tucholsky to touch home, they saw fans weeping and cheering. Tucholsky's team won, 4-2.

New Craze: Small Kids Fighting in the Ring

A five-year-old blond child cries before being forced by her parents into the ring to fight. Another picture shows her twin brother getting an unswerving smack to the face from his opponent. These small children are already professional fighters.

Some of these children are not even old enough for junior school, but they are pushed into the fight with the parents enthusiastically cheering them on. This is the latest trend which channel 4 will be airing on the Cutting Edge documentary.

In Muay Thai, boxing is no age limit, with normal fights they must be at least 11 before they start training. Another boy aged 10, Thai Barlow, did his first cage fight in March. His father happily said my vision is for him to win a stadium title.
