Studies have shown that the oldest known nuclear family were murdered when they died 4,600 years ago and buried in Germany. DNA on the remains show that the family consists of a mother, father and their two children.
The children were buried in the arms of their parents. Three other graves were also found along with that which contained the family, and DNA showed that other children were also related to the nuclear family.
Of the deaths, researcher Dr. Alistair Pike said: "They were definitely murdered , there are big holes in their heads, fingers and wrists are broken." Also, the DNA analysis following the discovery confirms they were a family.
